Former West Indies T20 World Cup winning skipper Daren Sammy on Tuesday urged International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket’s global body, and other national cricket boards across the world to stand united and speak out against social injustice and racism in wake of the brutal killing of US Citizen George Floyd.

Putting out a series of tweets to express his shock, anger and resentment over the brutal murder of African American US Citizen George Floyd, the Windies T20I World Cup-winning captain appealed to the ICC and cricket boards to support the fight against racism which has sparked of unprecendented protests and mass scale demonstrations across the United States on the back of George Floyd’s killing.

“For too long black people have suffered. I’m all the way in St Lucia and I’m frustrated If you see me as a teammate then you see #GeorgeFloyd Can you be part of the change by showing your support. #BlackLivesMatter,” Sammy wrote.

Are you not gonna speak against the social injustice against my kind. This is not only about America. This happens everyday #BlackLivesMatter now is not the time to be silent. I wanna hear u.”
